Wavetrac Helical LSD – Porsche 996 / 986 6MT (Clip-In Flanges)
The Wavetrac differential is a torque-biasing helical limited slip designed to improve traction, stability and power delivery in Porsche 6-speed rear-drive applications using clip-in drive flanges. It provides smooth, progressive locking under load without the noise, wear or servicing requirements associated with plated differentials.
Unlike conventional helical LSDs, Wavetrac incorporates a patented internal preload mechanism that maintains drive in low or near-zero load conditions, helping prevent momentary loss of traction when a wheel becomes unloaded under hard cornering, kerb use or uneven surfaces.
Manufactured from high-strength alloy steel with precision-cut gears, the Wavetrac unit is suitable for fast road and track use, offering predictable behaviour under power while retaining civilised manners for everyday driving.
