Wavetrac Helical LSD – Porsche 915-18
911 & 930 (1974–1977)
The Wavetrac limited-slip differential is a modern, torque-biasing upgrade for Porsche 915-18 transmissions, delivering predictable traction and improved stability without the compromises of traditional clutch-type LSDs.
Using a precision helical gear design, Wavetrac provides smooth, progressive torque transfer under acceleration and deceleration. Unlike conventional gear-type LSDs, Wavetrac incorporates a patented wave-cam preload mechanism, allowing the differential to continue biasing torque even when one wheel becomes unloaded—such as over crests, kerbs, or uneven surfaces.
This makes it particularly well suited to early 911 and 930 chassis where weight transfer and suspension geometry can momentarily reduce rear wheel load.
