Wavetrac Helical LSD – Porsche 901 / 915
911 & 914 (1969–1973)
The Wavetrac helical limited-slip differential is a modern torque-biasing upgrade for early Porsche 901 and 915 transmissions, delivering improved traction and stability without the drawbacks of clutch-type LSDs.
Using precision-cut helical gears, the Wavetrac progressively biases torque to the wheel with grip under acceleration, improving corner exit traction and vehicle control on both road and track. Unlike conventional helical differentials, Wavetrac’s patented wave cam preload mechanism maintains drive even when one wheel becomes unloaded, preventing the loss of drive commonly associated with zero-load conditions.
With no friction plates, the Wavetrac operates smoothly and quietly, requires no special oils, and is effectively maintenance-free in normal service—making it ideal for fast road, track day, and historic performance builds.
